In 1996, a group of physicians committed
to creating healthier communities in southwest Missouri and southeast
Kansas formed Mercy Physician Group, a division of Mercy Health System
of Kansas, Inc.
Mercy Physician Group services span a nine
county region in southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri with physician
offices in Fort Scott and Independence. Medical services are also provided
through four rural clinics located in Pleasanton, Arma, and Cherryvale, Kansas.
 Primary
care is the focus of the group which sees a wide range of patients including
men and women, children, and older adults.
Services include:
- Prenatal and obstetrical care
- Laboratory and x-ray services
- Complete physicals
- Emergency medicine
- Pre-employment physicals
- Diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases
- Well child checks
- Immunizations
- Women's health
- Work related injuries
- General surgery
Additionally, a variety of educational programs
and health screenings are offered directly to the areas served.
All services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid,
or private insurance. Arrangements can be made for a payment plan. For
