Area patients of Mercy Hospital’s visiting specialty physicians now enjoy a
new and expanded clinic space for their appointments.
The new clinic space has opened on the lower level of the Mercy Physician
Group building, 800 W. Laurel, after renovations were completed in that area
earlier this year. Formerly, specialty physicians conducted their clinics on
the second floor of the hospital.
“This new area offers easier access for patients and is an updated, modern
facility in which patients can feel comfortable, and the physicians and
their co-workers have plenty of space to work,” said John Woodrich,
president/CEO of Mercy Health System of Kansas.
The new space also features a sizeable waiting area, several
handicapped-accessible restrooms and meeting space used for Mercy’s in-house
and community functions. In addition, a new parking lot is nearing
completion off Laurel Street to the west of the clinic building to
accommodate patients.
Specialty clinics are currently offered at Mercy by: Cardiologists – Dr.
Gary Dykstra, of Bartlesville, Okla.; and Drs. Ravi Bajaj, Roger Evans,
Roger Roberts and Wassim Shaheen, of Wichita; Ear, Nose & Throat specialist
– Dr. Mark Robertson, Bartlesville; Neurologists – Dr. Harold Goldman,
Tulsa, Okla.; Dr. Devendra Jain, Parsons; and Urologist – Dr. V.S. Pai,
Parsons.
The Cancer Center of Kansas clinic remains located on the second floor of
Mercy Hospital and offers chemotherapy Monday through Friday and oncology
clinics each Wednesday with Drs. Shaker Dakhil and Phu Truong.
With the expanded space now available, Woodrich said, Mercy is working to
recruit more physicians to the community to offer clinics in additional
areas of specialty medicine, including dermatology and nephrology.
