Elizabeth
Carter, Exercise Instructor
Elizabeth was born in Chanute, and graduated from Altoona-Midway High School
in 2000. She has been a fitness instructor at Health for Life since 2003.
Currently, Elizabeth is working toward a personal trainer certification.

Kellie
Carter, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant
Kellie was born and raised in Wichita. Kellie relocated to the Sedan area,
where she and her husband operate a 1,000-acre cattle ranch and custom hay
business. She graduated from Colby Community College with a Physical Therapy
Assistant degree. Kellie has been with Health for Life since 2000. She
enjoys racing, football, fishing, photography, gardening, shooting clay
pigeons, camping, boating and spending time with her family and friends.

Debbie
Creekmore, Exercise instructor/Personal Trainer
Debbie was born and raised near Emporia. She graduated from Kansas State
University with a degree in Education. After moving around, Debbie and her
husband relocated to Independence in 2000. She has always enjoyed aerobics
and working out, so it seem natural to her to teach. Debbie is certified in
both group fitness instruction and personal training through American
Council on Exercise (ACE). |
Gwen
Cunningham, Exercise Instructor
Gwen graduated from Chanute High School and has lived in Cherryvale since
1967. She and her husband have six children, 12 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. Gwen joined the club in 1998 and has recently joined
the staff as a substitute instructor for Senior Aerobics. |
Jaci
Hafner, Occupational Therapist
Jaci was born in South Dakota and raised in Independence. She has a
bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in
Occupational Therapy, which she obtained from South Dakota University. Jaci
has worked for Health for life since 1996. She is married with one son, and
enjoys gardening, jogging and reading. |
Donna
Janasek, Cosmetologist
Donna moved to Independence in 1997 with her husband. Donna has twelve years
of cosmetology experience, having worked in Manhattan and Independence.
Additionally, she instructed cosmetology school for one year while in
Manhattan. Donna enjoys spending time with her children, as well as sewing
and cooking. |
Valerie
Jones, Physical Therapist
Valerie moved to Independence in 1987 from Chanute. She received her
bachelor's of science degree in 1999 and master's degree in Physical Therapy
in 2001 from the University of Kansas. She has been with Health for Life
since 2002. She and her husband reside in Independence, and she enjoys
playing volleyball, bowling, shopping, reading, spending time with her
family and friends and playing with her cats, "Tiger" and "Lilly."

Karen
Kendrick, Exercise Instructor
Karen has been a certified group fitness instructor since 1989. She also has
received additional certifications in specialty training, including personal
fitness trainer, kickboxing and nutrition. She was employed by Independence
Community College for six years as a worksite health promotion coordinator.
Karen left the college in 1996 to open her own business, the Health
Alternative, a natural foods store located in downtown Independence. A
mother of three, and married for 23 years, Karen teaches yoga and kickboxing
at Health for Life. She enjoys running and lifting weights.

Rickenia Lee,
Program Coordinator/Personal Trainer/Exercise Instructor
Rickenia was born in Coffeyville and raised in Liberty. She graduated from
Coffeyville Community College in 2000. She has been with Health for Life
since 1999. Rickenia is certified through the National Dance and Exercise
Instructors Training Association as a group fitness instructor and as a
personal trainer. She attends the international health and fitness
conventions each year to gather new ideas for the gym. Rickenia enjoys
exercising, playing sports, taking pictures, scrapbooking and spending time
with her family and friends.

Elizabeth
Reynolds, Fitness Tech
Elizabeth received an associate's degree from Independence Community College
and bachelor's and master's degrees from Pittsburg State University.
Elizabeth is active in the Neewollah Queen pageant activities and the
Neewollah musical; the William Inge Festival; Cirriculum Council for USD
445; and the Professional Development Council for TriCo Coop. #607.
Elizabeth is a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Fort Worth, Texas; Epsilon Sigma
Alpha in Independence; PEO Chapter; National and State Teachers'
Association; and Tri-County Teachers' Association. Elizabeth has one
daughter and four grandchildren. |
Lisa
Schuler, Rehab Tech
Lisa was born in Kansas City and raised in Independence. She joined the Army
immediately following high school. Lisa has been a Patient Care and Physical
Therapy Tech at Health for Life since 2002. She was EMT-trained in North
Carolina and received her cosmetology license in California. Lisa has three
sons, and resides in Independence. |
Leseley Simpson, Exercise Instructor.
Leseley is a retired school teacher of 35 years. She has been teaching Senior
Aerobics at Health for LIfe since 2000. She is a certified NIDETA instructor
with additional training through PACE (People with Arthritis Care Exercise).
She enjoys scrapbooking and cooking and of course, exercising. |
Stephanie
Spoon, Physical Therapist
Stephanie is from Pratt and moved to Independence in 2002. She graduated
from the Wichita State University School of Physical Therapy in 2002. Her
professional interests include orthopedic rehab, seating and mobility and
pediatric physical therapy. Stephanie also enjoys playing her clarinet in
the Mid-Continent Band. |
Gayla
Wilson, Fitness Tech
Gayla was born in North Kansas City, Mo., and moved to Independence in 1986.
She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pittsburg State University
in 1987. Gayla has been with Mercy since 1994 and worked as a Physical
Therapy Tech for eight years, before transitioning to a Fitness Tech
position. Gayla is married with three daughters, and enjoys playing softball
and volleyball, decorating cakes, doing artwork and stained glass, camping,
fishing, traveling and gardening. |
Martha Lindley-Woodward,
Assistant Director of Rehab Services
Martha is originally from Tulsa, Okla., and relocated to Independence in
1996, when she began working for Mercy. She earned a bachelor's degree in
Physical Therapy from the University of Louisville in Kentucky, and a
master's in Business Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State
University. Martha has practiced Physical Therapy in various states since
1986. Martha is married with two children, and enjoys jogging and cheering
for her favorite teams: The Chicago Cubs and Oklahoma State Cowboys. |
